Mai place, Thai fusion food in herzliya city

If you are craving for Thai or Asian food and don't want to spend so much... Mai place is the place to be! It is not a fancy restaurant but it's decently neat and the food is tasty!

Presenting to you my favourite dish.... Sweet sour chicken with fried rice! It's my first time trying and it got me giving a thumbs up!!! The chicken is crispy and the sauce is just awesomely nice!
Honestly, it tastes so much like the sweet and sour dish in Singapore! What's missing is a fried egg.

I wouldn't recommend tom yum soup if you prefer spicy tom yum soup because the soup here is more coconut milk based so it is mildly spicy!

Lastly, pad seiu, which in Singapore and Thailand, we call this kind of noodles the kway teow! It is broad rice noodles and has a chewiness to it if cooked properly! It's stir-fried well here but it's too sweet for my liking! (For this dish I would strongly recommend eating it from tiger lily!)

Have a great Sunday morning my faithful readers!

How to cook shakshuka?

Shakshuka is a middle eastern egg dish that I love eating for breakfast or for lunch! It's one of my favourite local dishes in Israel! For those who likes tomatoes, you definitely have to try out this dish!

Can't find this in Singapore? Follow my step by step recipe to cook this yourself!

1. Pour suitable amount of oil on middle sized frying pan
2. Add diced garlic and fry till fragrant (it's optional to add onion)
3. Add other ingredients that you like (eg mushroom, sausages, red bell peppers)
4. Add tomato sauce for shakshuka/lasagna (you can use tomato sauce for spaghetti as an alternative)
5.Add diced fresh tomatoes (1 tomato) to give it a fresher and richer taste!
6. Lastly when everything is boiling, crack raw eggs into the pan and leave the pot boiling for another 10 minutes!
Walla! You are done making a nice and full dish :)
7. My friend suggested to put cheese on top of the dish! ( I have not tried it but I can imagine it will be yummy)

This dish is really easy to make so try it and tell me if you like it :)

Tipico Grilled chicken, tel aviv

Situated at Nachalat Benjamin Street in tel aviv, adjacent to shuk Ha’Carmel, there is a grilled chicken store that serves nice flavorsome chicken!

I chanced upon this store because whenever I'm walking along nachalat Benjamin street, I always smell the aroma of the grilled chicken and potatoes when I'm near the store!

With 49 shekels, you get half a chicken with a generous amount of potatoes or rice! I personally love the potatoes a lot because it is seasoned very well (sometimes a little too salty haha)! It definitely fills your stomach if you are feeling very hungry that day!

PS: it's kosher!

So go try it and visit on a Tuesday or Friday because you can also spend your time at the artist fair along the same street which features around 200 artists! One tip for you though! Don't try to bargain with these artists because they take pride in their work! We should respect their artworks!

My favourite store at the artist fair is definitely this hand made soft toy store! The artist, Rachel is a lady who treats all her hand sewn toys like her baby and her range of sweet toys will automatically attract many girls to her store! I really appreciates her hardwork on all these soft toys! You can hardly find hand sewn soft toys nowadays so it makes me treasure her toys even more!
Here's me with my teddy bear I got from her :)

Review on onami, tel aviv

Yesterday, I went to onami for an early dinner! Onami is the place to be if you want a nice authentic, sumptuous and reasonable priced lunch or early dinner! They have business lunch from 12-5pm priced from 70-100 shekels which includes a starter, a first dish and a main course!

I absolutely love their hot green tea because it's the most authentic you can ever find in Israel and it comes in a nice big pot for sharing!

These are the starters! I absolutely recommend the tofu salad ( on the top of the picture). It is diced into small miniature pieces and it is just something special! The cold noodles on the bottom left will be something you want to order if you want a nice refreshing starter!

Here comes the first dish! My all time favourite is the adegshi tofu (bottom of the pic)! But if you are sick of it, try the fried or cooked calamari because they taste awesomely good too!

I don't think I have enough vocabulary to describe how amazing these taste! It's my first time trying and it has now become a must try when you come to onami! For the 80 shekels set meal, you can choose 3 skewers and it comes with a bowl of fragrant rice! Want to know which one is my ultimate favourite? Look at the next picture!

These asparagus wrapped with bacon skewers are THE BEST! The bacon is flavored well with just the right amount of chargrilled taste to it! 😍

Noodles was tasty but not exceptional...

3 rolls of sushi! If I didn't remember wrongly I ordered the first 3 rolls on the menu! I just felt it was too green and too vegetarian.
