Introducing one of my favourite fish restaurant!

This is barbunia and it's one of my favourite fish restaurant! It's a restaurant that is worth visiting every time you have cravings for seafood!

Three things I absolutely love about this restaurant is that it is affordable, fresh and completely no frills! It's not a place to  bring a date to but it's definitely great for a nice family gathering!

What I always look forward to is not just the seafood here but also the numerous starters! I promise they are mostly yummy... Especially the celery, coleslaw and mixed potatoes! You can even ask for refills which is free of charge :)

Not forgetting a basket full of hot and crispy buns to accompany the side dishes!

Here's the menu of the restaurant! They have a variety of fresh fishes or seafood and you can choose and pick the ones that appeal to you from a glass container right outside the kitchen!

I love eating fish but honestly I can never tell the difference between the types of fishes! Anyhow, I will always order the sea bream and sea bass because their meat is always the most tender and fresh! You have a choice to have it grilled, fried or half and half! Both sea bass and sea bream taste awesome no matter if it is grilled or fried so just pick whichever you prefer!

I'm a big fan of salmon but I usually like to eat white fish meat when I'm in this restaurant so I have never tried the salmon from this restaurant before!

Day cinco in barcelona

5th day in Barcelona! I'm more or less done with sightseeing so in the morning, I planned to go shopping (again) to see if I've missed out anything to buy!

After shopping was lunch at  Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria! I love the vibe that the market brings because it's all so colorful and vibrant! However it was really hard to find a nice place to settle for lunch because it was really crowded! Especially the tapas bar, El Quim which is very much raved about! In the end, i settled for a place called wok to walk which is just a short walk on the left from the market! If you crave to eat for hot Asian food and have no much time to spare, this is definitely the place for you!

Also for this wok to walk fast food restaurant, it's a cool concept because they allow you to choose the type of noodles, the ingredients as well as the sauce/ flavour you desire!

In the market you can find these candies which I will like to call them heaven candies 😍 I swear this are the best jelly candies EVER! It's expensive candies but they literally melt in your mouth the very second so it is all worth it!

After a nice walk along la rambla, I settled down at a small little cosy cafe to rest! Tried their apple tart which was the perfect sweetness! However I felt it was too overpriced at around 8 euros! What left an impression on me was the waiter in the cafe who kept calling me a beauty haha!

After a good rest plus free wifi, I continued my journey along la rambla! Saw a really talented street artist! She attracted so many tourists but she was still so focused! I'm impressed!

When I was just worrying about how to attend church service, I chanced upon the palm procession at a square near palace güell :)

The palm procession started from the square and ended in a very rustic and nice church!

After the long church service was yummy seafood dinner waiting for me! This place is much raved about on trip advisor and clearly very popular among the locals too! It's the first time I saw a huge beeline infront of a restaurant even before it's open!

This is a self service restaurant where you have to order first and then be allocated a place to sit! After your meal, you still have to help them put the dishes and cups back!

What is important to note is that you have to order enough for your appetite because if you want to order again, you will have to queue up all over again which is very frustrating!

First up is the bread and a really nice garlic butter paste!

Next up is fried calamari! I absolutely love this dish! It's fried well and appropriately salted!

The prawns were really fresh and cooked well! I just felt it was troublesome to de-shell the prawns, nonetheless it was still yummy!

It was my first time eating bamboo clams and I really liked it! It tasted very much like mussels but a much skinnier version!

My most anticipated dish was the lobster however it was a disappointment! The meat was too tough for my liking and the meat from the pincer tasted literally like it was fresh from the sea ( I could taste the salt from the sea and trust me it wasn't nice)

Fried mini squids were love! A pity I ordered too much ( around 400g) to finish it!

Lastly, I tried the fish also! I had it fried but what was surprising was that it came in cubes instead of a whole piece!

All in all, I had a satisfying dinner at la paradeta and I would say it was worth the wait! I didn't like the atmosphere of the restaurant because I felt everyone was very panicky since it was so crowded but if you can stand the crowd just to get good quality seafood, this place won't disappoint you :)

Till my madrid trip,

Day cuatro in Barcelona

My day 4 in Barcelona was spent visiting the world famous church, la sangrada familia! I would definitely suggest everyone to book online so as to avoid the tremendously long queue ( there is a separate queue for internet booking and the normal tickets)! Just like park güell, they have designated time slots and you are only allowed to enter at the time you booked for!

If you arrived early, you can take a nice walk around the small park just opposite the sangrada familia!

Once I got into the sangrada familia church, I couldn't help but to stand in awe and how detailed and skillful the works of gaudi were! Don't miss the small information room near the exit of the church because it gives you very good information about how gaudi created his creation and all his ideas behind his designs!

We took the hop on and hop off bus again and this time we took the red route!  We got down at the stop called teleferic de montjuic to look at the majestic water fountain and waterfall! It was really mind-blowingly beautiful! One of the places where taking a picture wouldn't show how wonderful the place is...

Next stop was port vell! This is a nice place to be because it's right at the marina and there are many shops and I like how the shops are very organized!

I tried the paella here but I didn't particularly like it because it was a little too fishy for my liking... ( maybe I didn't eat at the right store or maybe paella just tastes like that!)

What I enjoyed more was the donut at dunkin coffee! It was really good just like Krispy Kreme! And they had a Easter edition donuts so of course I had to try it!

Next stop was back to Carrer d'Avinyó, 7. Somewhere closer to la rambla! This is the well know first esparadilles store in spain,La Manual Alpargatera. I heard that even pope john paul II was also a customer of this store!

For a store with such a long tradition, I am surprised that they have many new and modern designs to offer! Not just the classic esparadilles! You will be spoilt for choice and colours... Just that sometimes they do not have the colour in want in the size that you need!
Also, they have a small corner with some selected designs that are on Sale!
Since they are well known, please expect that their staff are rather rude and they don't speak English well!

Ended my day with churros, jarmon and tomato bread for dinner at Enrique Tomas, a nice place to try out if you are keen on trying out jarmon or bacon!
I would recommend the set meal as shown in the picture above! For salad, chips, sandwich, espresso and wine... It only costs 9.90 euros! What a steal right! (But I'm still missing the awesome salad from Israel!)

Till another day of fun,
Kay

Dinner at Butchery de Bariloche

Address: habarzel 4, tel aviv

It's throwback to Israel meat house today! I'm in spain now but I'm missing Israel's meat restaurant so much! The meat here has no fight with Israel's juicy and tender beef!
If you feel like splurging at a good meat place with great atmosphere... Read on!

Today I'm introducing this restaurant called butchery... I'm following televeat on Instagram who is run by my Idc classmate and she recommended this so I went to try it out!

The concept of this restaurant is very much like rak besar ( only meat), but just with an added posh-ness to it! When u first enter the restaurant, you will be offered with home made chocolates and possibly a glass of wine!

You order your starters and drinks with the waiter and order your meat from the meat bar (how I like to call it)!

Feel free to ask the meat professional behind the counter for his advice and information about all the meat they have available! I tried the ribs, israeli entrecôte and spicy sausage! Rest assured all the meat are very well seasoned so any additional spices is redundant!

I really like how the meat comes on a hot plate so you can take your time to savour the meat! All the sides given was really tasty too, especially the mashed potatoes which is a perfect accompaniment to the flavourful meat!

Going back to the appetizer! I would strongly strongly recommend this starter called pollo ganso! It's the best ever starter I've ever tried! If you can't resist foie gras ( goose liver), you have to try this before once in your lifetime! Imagine the soft and juicy foie gras combined with chicken and spinach wrapped in a tortilla similar kind of dough skin... It just make me salivate when I'm blogging!
This dish will be the main reason for me to patronize this restaurant again :)
