Madrid day 1

It's time for me to leave Barcelona today! Cabbed to Sants station from my hotel! Sants station is not a place where you will want to come to kill your time at because there are no much interesting shops here!
You will need to get your bag checked and then get your ticket checked at the correct counter before taking the elevator down to the train platform!

What was nice was that after reaching Madrid, you can actually change for a free ticket to take the internal train out to sol station! Usually the train departs at platform 5/6 but ask around if you are not sure :)

Finally I have reached my hotel! Hotel Catalonia, Madrid! Really love this hotel and the location was great!

After a short rest, I rushed to las ventas bull ring to catch the famous bull fight! Bull fight happens every Sunday and the bull fight season just started in March so I was really lucky to be able to reach madrid on a Sunday just in time to catch this heartless tradition.

When I reached, the unimaginable long queue threw me off and dampen my excitement :( I have to say I'm very wary about guys selling loose tickets from the black market but since I didn't want to queue and I really wanted to experience the bull fight, I eventually got a ticket from a old man selling his ticket! Of course I made sure the ticket was usable before I gave him the money!

Inside the bull fighting complex!

I was fascinated that people were selling cushions at the entrance of the ring till I realized that the concrete seats were burning hot when I went in. However, I would say it was bearable so no point wasting money on renting it!

The huge bullfighting ring! Very glorious and full of history!

What a heart wrenching scene when the bull eventually got killed and had to be dragged by horses out of the ring. It was outright animal cruelty but what can I say when it has been a long tradition of spain...

After the pitiful bull fighting, it was time for dinner! Went to try out this noodle restaurant along gran via called lemongrass! It reminded me a lot of the wok to walk I ate in Barcelona because it was exactly the same concept! And I also like that they have very friendly waiters!

Pad Thai

Sweet and sour tempura chicken with fried rice! The chicken was really yummy and fried really well :)

Praying for all the poor bulls,
Kay
